MUSTANGS ON THE ISLAND (MATI)
The car show was huge and the sponsor club did a great job. They had over 300 Mustangs and gave away thousands of dollars to DAV, and a couple other charities. The Treasure Island Casino & Resort is the nicest casino/hotel that I've stayed in outside of Vegas. Much better than the ones here in Wisconsin. Every reservation came with $20 free play for you and spouse plus many other freebies if you signed up for club card. Every entry in the show also was awarded a $20 free play and some other goodies. Instead of a fridge magnet you received a metal license plate "MATI 5". They didn't have classes, each "class" was a particular row of cars which were determined by the luck of the draw and when you showed up at the show to park your car. They had about 10 classes which were really rows of about 30 or so cars of various years and models. The voting was done by entrants and you chose one car from each row. Then there were special awards one car was chosen by Miss MN, Treasure Island, the Dog Rescue and the DAV. We didn't participate in the daily festivities that came with your registration but they had dinner, happy hour and a comedian on Friday and similar on Saturday. They also had various cruises and a poker run.
